Born on 11 October 1957 in Baladinni village, Muddebihal Taluk, his journey began in rural Karnataka. Growing up in a Zamindari family shaped his lifelong commitment to public service.

Inspired by Basavanna and the philosophy of Sarva Dharma Ekate, he has consistently championed harmony, equality, and social justice.

Land Reform with Compassion

He voluntarily distributed nearly 3,000 acres of ancestral agricultural land to farmers, empowering thousands of rural families with dignity and self-reliance.

1983

Beginning of Political Career

Joined the Indian National Congress and began active political service, inspired by nationalism and public welfare.

Parliament Election Campaign

Worked in the parliamentary election campaign of Shri D. K. Naikar in Dharwad, gaining valuable organizational and grassroots experience.

1986–89

Kissan Cell Leadership

Won the Zilla Panchayat election from Nalatwada and served as State Vice Convenor of the Kissan Cell, KPCC Karnataka.

1989

First-Time MLA

Elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly after defeating senior Janata Dal leader J. S. Deshmukh.

1990–92

Minister for Labour & Employment

Served in the Bangarappa Cabinet, focusing on labour welfare and employment generation.

1995

District Congress Leadership

Appointed Senior Vice President of the District Congress Committee and became an active KPCC member.

1999–2013

Multiple Consecutive Victories

Re-elected repeatedly as MLA and served as Government Chief Whip in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Cabinet Rank in New Delhi

Served as Government Special Representative in New Delhi with Cabinet Minister status under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Historic Sixth Victory

Defeated BJP candidate A. S. Patil Nadahalli by more than 8,000 votes to become MLA for the sixth time, contributing to the Congress party's decisive victory in Karnataka.
